Commercial Relationship Manager - Healthcare Focused

General Function Responsible for profitable business development as well as monitoring the quality of an largest existing portfolio of companies with annual gross sales of at least $10MM and generally less than $500MM within a specific geographic area. Must develop trusted advisory relationships with the Senior Executives (e.g. CEO, CFO, COO) of the Companies. Must lead and coordinate with One Bank Partners to create and implement an integrated relationship strategy for these large, complex clients and prospects. Must possess strong understanding of credit, commercial products, financial statement analysis, and be able to offer beneficial banking solutions (e.g. loans, treasury management, capital markets) based on client needs. Must solicit public debt issuance participation for clients. Some incumbents may specialize in Health Care. Must contribute to community activities. Must own responsibility and accountability for risk by openly exchanging ideas, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures. Must account for truth‑first decisions for customers and colleagues, ensuring actions and behaviors drive positive customer experience. Must work within the bank's risk appetite while identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development Work independently to identify and develop profitable new “lead left” client relationships by leveraging centers of influence, existing clients, and referral sources. Effectively grow long‑term profitable “lead left” relationships. Work closely with assigned Fifth Third internal partners to deepen existing relationships and acquire new high‑value prospective relationships. Attend community and/or specific‑industry forums, conferences, and meetings to broaden relationship networks, referral sources, and deepen knowledge of trends, practices, services and the competitive landscape. Portfolio Management Work with One Bank partners (Treasury Management, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, etc.) to analyze, evaluate and develop a tailored relationship strategy for each client or prospect. Plan and conduct relationship strategy review meetings with internal Sixth Third Business Partners and client’s trusted advisors (e.g. attorney, accountants). Ensure that customer relationships are managed to maximize the bank’s opportunities while considering risk and customer needs. Client Experience Meet with customers regularly to enhance the trusted‑advisor relationship and ensure business needs are met. Lead and coordinate all client‑facing activities, including credit support, treasury management, and capital markets. Utilize the bank’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for client activity tracking, call reports and pipeline management; reinforce CRM use for partner partners. Utilize consultative selling skills, commercial playbook principals and call‑reporting plans to improve the client experience. Credit Excellence Analyze provided financial information to determine questions for credit request decisions. Partner with Portfolio Managers and Credit Officers on credit requests and adhere to established Portfolio Management guidelines. Monitor information concerning client financial performance, condition, and industry trends to determine credit exposure remains at acceptable risk and properly priced. Supervisory Responsibilities No formal supervisory responsibilities. Expected to provide guidance to Commercial RM I & II. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Bachelor’s or Master's in Business (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent work experience preferred. Mandated experience in Middle Market Healthcare Commercial Banking – obligate profit mandatory. Minimum 10 years of Commercial Banking experience. Preferred 9 years of relationship account management experience. Mandated formal commercial credit training or equivalent credit experience. Preferred underwriting experience. Mandated partnership expertise with investment bankers for strategic and capital‑market advice. Mandated strong business acumen, detailed analysis, financial statement reviewing skills, understanding accounting principles. Mandated knowledge of Commercial, Treasury Management, and alternative lending and financing options. Mandated ability to assess client needs, profitability drivers, and optimize financial solutions. Mandated strong presentation skills in both large and small group settings, proven communication impact. Mandated understanding of audience; must adjust communication levels of detail, capture and hold attention. Mandated proficiency in identifying business issues and exploring solutions prior to recommending options. Mandated influence on client decision regarding strategy and product solutions – engages in joint business planning. Mandated determine task/resourcing and define responsibilities. Mandated scan internal and external environment to initiate/improve relationships to meet business goals. Mandated strong verbal and written communication, face‑to‑face negotiation emphasis. Mandated teamwork in a sales environment. Mandated proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM prospecting software knowledge preferred. Mandated regional/local travel. Commercial Relationship Manager – Healthcare Focused Total Base Pay Range 121,900.00 – 262,100.00 USD Annual. The base salary for this position reflects the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range vary based on relevant skill set, experience, education and location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan based on company, line of business and/or individual performance.
