Job Purpose
Quality Engineers support and maintain the prescribed manufacturing performance targets by identifying areas of process or quality output concerns and by participating in problem investigation and resolution activities.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform analysis of failed mass production components or assemblies; subject components & vehicles to test conditions in effort to identify failures & simulate possible causes/influences.
- Identify problems influenced by manufacturing conditions or design tolerance – promote/carry-out investigations.
- Perform causal and root cause determination.
- Communicate investigations or studies by way of technical writing/documentation/reporting; present summaries to quality management.
- Manage and confirm changes to the mass production Bill of Material (BOM) through design change management systems; record and report faults found during the BOM management process.
- Communicate with internal supplier representatives and their requests, to appropriately support problem investigation & resolution.
- Work with responsible departments/personnel to facilitate appropriate problem containment.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree of Engineering (electrical, industrial, or mechanical) or relevant and strongly-related work experience.
- 0-6 years of experience based on education, no degree requires 6 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to technically investigate, derive conclusions from observations/data and analytically approach problem cause phenomena.
Working Conditions
- Travel to other Honda manufacturing facilities in North America is expected to occur on occasion throughout a given year (problem investigation-specific purposes).
- Expected 1-8 hours overtime per week as needed.
- Hands-on, inside vehicle work is expected. Test lab work and test shop work is typically 50% of time while on-site.
