Youngman Roberts Suen LLP is a small firm in Walnut Creek doing trust and probate litigation, tax controversy, and estate and income tax planning for closely held business owners and families.

We're looking for an attorney with two to five years of litigation experience — civil, trust and probate, or tax controversy — who is ready to move toward the planning and administration side of the practice over the next few years. If you've been in contested work long enough to know you would rather build something than fight about it, this seat was designed for you.

The first year is litigation. You'll carry civil and probate matters — summary judgment and motion practice, discovery, depositions, contested trust and fiduciary proceedings — and handle Tax Court petitions and collection due process work. You would carry files and work closely with the managing partner on strategy and drafting. You would expected to appear in court.

From there the seat moves. Estate planning, trust administration and accountings, and basis and income tax planning for estates and trusts. The planning work is the foundation; the income tax planning and administration work is where the practice is growing, and we would build that with you. The transition is written into the role with a schedule, not left as a promise.

We need someone who closes files, not just works on them. Ownership and follow-through matter more here than pedigree.
