Industrial Mechanical Estimator / Project Manager

Palmyra, PA | Full-Time | Direct Hire

We are hiring an experienced Industrial Mechanical Estimator / Project Manager with a strong background estimating industrial mechanical construction.

Industrial mechanical estimating experience is REQUIRED. This is not a general Project Manager position and candidates without direct estimating experience in industrial mechanical, piping, welding/fabrication, millwright, or related plant work will not be considered.

The ideal candidate can review drawings and specifications, perform takeoffs, develop labor and material estimates, determine equipment requirements, prepare bids, and then help manage projects through completion.

What You'll Be Estimating

Projects may include:

• Industrial process and utility piping
• Pipe fitting, layout, fabrication, and welding
• Welding and metal fabrication
• Millwright and machinery installation
• Rigging and equipment setting
• Plant maintenance and shutdown work
• ASME pressure vessel repair
• Conveyor installation and modification
• Structural steel, platforms, supports, and mezzanines
• Industrial ductwork
• Machinery and equipment repair
• Equipment grouting, core drilling, and related industrial work

Primary Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, drawings, P&IDs, and customer requirements
• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs
• Estimate labor hours, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project costs
• Develop scopes of work, material lists, and equipment requirements
• Prepare competitive bids, proposals, and project pricing
• Visit jobsites to evaluate field conditions and gather estimating information
• Work with customers to clarify project requirements and scope
• Identify potential change orders and additional work opportunities
• Transition awarded projects from estimating into project execution
• Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, schedules, and subcontractors
• Track project costs, progress, quality, and schedule
• Communicate with field crews, customers, vendors, and internal management

Required Experience

• Industrial Mechanical Estimating experience is REQUIRED
• Experience estimating projects involving industrial piping, welding/fabrication, millwright work, rigging, machinery installation, plant maintenance, or similar industrial mechanical work
• Strong understanding of piping layout and industrial piping systems
• Ability to perform takeoffs and develop labor and material estimates
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and specifications
• Knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other industrial materials
• Understanding of welding processes including GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, and SMAW/Stick
• Familiarity with industrial equipment, machinery, rigging, and fabrication methods
• Strong customer communication and organizational skills

Strongly Preferred

• Previous experience as an Industrial Mechanical Estimator, Estimator/PM, Project Estimator, or Mechanical Estimator
• Field background in welding, pipefitting, fabrication, millwright, or industrial mechanical construction
• Previous welding certifications or significant welding knowledge
• Experience estimating ASME, pressure piping, plant maintenance, or equipment installation work
• Previous Project Management experience after project award

This position is not intended for someone whose background is primarily commercial plumbing, HVAC, general construction, or project management without industrial mechanical estimating experience.
