Senior Analytics Engineer

Senior Analytics Engineer As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you bridge the gap between Data Engineering and Data Analysts. The role focuses on modeling complex data sets with an eye towards data quality, timeliness, and re‑use. Day‑to‑day tasks include writing performant SQL queries, building reusable pipelines, identifying useful data‑sets within existing data warehouses, and building relationships between Data Engineering and its stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Data Modeling/Architecting: You understand and account for the data lineage/dependencies between other data pipelines. You define/enforce service level agreements and monitor & alert around the ETL. You give and receive feedback from code reviews and architecture meetings in a blameless, constructive manner. Pipelining: You maintain existing ETLs and develop simple ETL processes from scratch. You ensure timeliness, availability, and quality of high‑value data‑sets that meet established SLOs. You provide support and observability for the codebase you own and understand the codebase with guidance from peers and Data Engineers. Deriving Business Insights: You understand the 'So What' of analysis and can propose next steps. You parse stakeholder requests into required analysis and clarify business needs. You have expert domain knowledge for the stakeholder group you support and anticipate their needs. Stakeholder Enablement You actively work with Senior Engineers to develop generalized solutions for stakeholders. You listen to stakeholders’ bottlenecks and advocate for platform improvements. You collaborate with Product Managers to break down projects into milestones with estimates. You work with analysts to identify valuable data sets and advise on data hygiene and best practices. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 2 years and a Master’s degree. 1–2 years of experience with Dbt Cloud (or Dbt Core). Strong SQL and data‑modeling skills; bonus Python experience. Knowledge of object‑oriented and/or functional programming patterns. Hands‑on experience with S3, Redshift, Airflow, Spark, Presto, Hive. Experience working in small, fast‑moving teams. Experience measuring the impact of technical products through experimentation and statistical analysis.
