Physical Therapist I

Summary The Physical Therapist organizes and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy programs with the goal being to restore function. The Physical Therapist attempts to prevent disability following disease/injury, while helping the patient reach his/her maximum performance while learning to live with the limits of his/her capabilities. Responsibilities Diagnostic Testing - Administers basic & complex diagnostic tests and evaluations in the area of Physical Therapy for the treatment of mobility disorders and related impairments Education - Teach & supervise graduate Physical Therapy students and/or clinical fellows/residents. Develop or contribute to innovative programs to enhance patient care. Serve as resource consultant to other clinicians in respective specialty area. Evaluation of Care - Analyze results of diagnostic and/or therapeutic testing to establish patient goals and/or modify subsequent treatment programs. Identify expected patient outcomes. Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care. Implementation - Select and apply current and advanced techniques to provide quality and efficient rehabilitative services. Provide habilitation/rehabilitation and maintenance of persons with mobility related impairments. Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs. Outreach/Community Involvement - Serve as resource to North Carolina government departments and statewide health professionals in specialty areas. Present at local (university/hospital) or state level, participate in community health screening and events. Participate in the development of new clinical programs to meet emerging needs in conjunction with the clinical specialist and/or department director. Participation - Contribute to quality of clinical services through attendance and participation in departmental meetings and in-services. Quality - Contribute to quality of clinical services through maintenance of valid & reliable records of patient procedures & progress. Participate in quality improvement initiatives with the clinical specialist and other healthcare professionals. Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts in conjunction with the department director. Education Requirements Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program. Bachelor's degree in physical therapy. Licensure/Certification Requirements Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in North Carolina. Professional Experience Requirements Successful completion of supervised clinical internship. New Graduate or up to 3 years of experience.
