About the Role:

We are seeking an autonomous, Senior Machinist. In this role, you will program our Haas VMCs and operate manual lathe and mill occasionally. This role requires high-level experience and precision to create setups for handling tight tolerances, occasionally solving non-routine task.

Beyond machining, you will act as a technical partner to our internal engineering teams, providing vital Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback, while directly managing shop inventory, tool procurement, and 5S workplace organization standards.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities:

• Advanced Machining & Programming: Program complex parts, create set up and run Haas VMCs.
• Machining prototypes, tools, fixtures, and low-volume runs.
• High-Stakes Part Modification: Safely execute challenging setups to modify critical, high-value components and machine hardened materials while maintaining tight tolerances.
• Engineering Collaboration & DFM: Partner directly with in-house product design and equipment design groups to review early concepts and provide DFM feedback that optimizes designs for manufacturing.
• Procurement & Inventory Management: Independently order tooling, and raw materials; track usage to maintain minimum material inventory levels.
• Performing routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, including daily operational checks, to ensure proper functioning.
• Maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area in compliance with all safety standards.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications:

• Evidence of a completed High School or GED is required.
• Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Machining Technology or equivalent vocational training is preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of senior-level CNC programming and setup experience on Haas VMCs, plus strong manual lathe skills.
• Material Expertise: machining Aluminum, Steel, SST, and Plastics, experience successfully handling hardened materials.
• Precision: Consistently capable of holding tight, tolerances on critical high precision components.
• Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and GD&T symbols accurately.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineering teams and clearly articulate technical DFM feedback.
• Organizational Skills: Experience managing tool/material inventory and implementing or maintaining 5S/Lean methodologies.

Reno Pay Range

$90,000 - $105,000 USD

Compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.
