Details MedSurgical Float Pool position within the MS/Tele unit of a hospital setting Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00PM-7:30AM, totaling 36 hours per week Availability required for weekdays and some weekends, including holidays Handles patient ratios of 1:4-5 Float required within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed Uses EPIC electronic health records system Requirements Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration Minimum of 2 years of MedSurgical nursing experience BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred Proficient in IV starts and telemetry monitoring Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care preferred Neurological/psychiatric care experience preferred, including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team involvement Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience preferred Prior travel nursing experience required Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills Additional Information Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a MedSurgical/Telemetry setting Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines Out-of-state candidates within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to complete urgently Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference, but coworker references are not accepted Former employees eligible for a travel assignment only after 6 months away from the facility Current employees are ineligible for travel positions at any Ohio State University hospital location RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate American Traveler Job ID P-750784.
