About the Role

ShareSTAFF is hiring a Medication Aide for a W-2 contract assignment at a Nebraska state correctional facility in Lincoln, NE. As a contract Medication Aide, you will provide medications to patients under the general supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, document medication provision, observe and monitor patient response, and maintain medications in accordance with facility policies. You will work directly with adult patients in a state correctional setting, supporting their care plans by following the five rights of medication administration and intervening when conditions indicate a medication should be held. Success in this role calls for accuracy, patience, and the ability to interact positively with patients while remaining flexible to meet the changing demands of a busy med pass. Paid orientation training is provided during onboarding.

What You'll Do

• Administer or distribute medications to patients in a timely manner according to physician orders
• Apply the five rights of medication administration: right drug, right recipient, right dose, right route, right time
• Observe and monitor patient response to medications, recognize adverse reactions, and take appropriate action under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional
• Complete and maintain accurate medication administration records and patient charting in accordance with facility policies
• Ensure medications are stored and handled per facility policy; intervene when unsafe conditions indicate a medication should not be provided
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold each patient's right to refuse medication
• Apply current standards of infection control and hygiene throughout each med pass
• Comply with the Nebraska Medication Aide Act, HIPAA requirements, and the limitations and conditions under which medications may be provided
• Attend in-service training and participate in on-the-job training programs to maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role
• Perform related work as assigned within the scope of your Medication Aide Registry placement

What You Bring - Required

• Active placement on the State of Nebraska Medication Aide Registry as a Medication Aide
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and push/pull medication carts up to 75 lbs on a daily basis
• Ability to frequently bend at the waist and neck, twist at the waist, and walk or stand up to 90 percent of the shift for medication delivery
• Willingness to work part-time, flexible scheduling, as scheduled by the facility
• Willingness to complete pre-placement and onboarding requirements

What You Bring - Preferred

• Prior experience as a Medication Aide in a clinical, long-term care, or institutional setting
• Experience in a correctional, institutional, or state-operated healthcare facility
• Current BLS or CPR certification
• Familiarity with electronic medication administration record (eMAR) or other med pass documentation systems
• Comfort working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with behavioral health and substance use needs
