Physician Assistant - Corrections Pay: $78.55 – $83.47 per hour (varies by experience) Location: McCook, NE 69001 Schedule: Part-time or full-time available; specific hours per week to be confirmed at assignment match Start: ASAP Duration: 6 – 12+ months (W-2 contract) Job Type: Contract Pay Frequency: Weekly pay About the Role ShareSTAFF is hiring a Physician Assistant for a W-2 contract assignment at a Nebraska state correctional facility in McCook, NE. As a contract PA, you will provide primary health care services to an adult resident population in a minimum-custody correctional setting, working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. You will perform routine physical and screening examinations, initiate diagnostic studies, perform routine therapeutic procedures, document care plans, and recommend diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for the supervising physician's final approval. The role offers a 52-week-plus assignment (12+ months) with flexible part-time or full-time scheduling and paid orientation training provided during onboarding at the Nebraska Corrections Training Academy. What We Offer Weekly pay - every week, on time Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance for eligible employees Tax-free housing and meal stipends for travel assignments Travel reimbursement Paid orientation and corrections training during onboarding at the Nebraska Corrections Training Academy Referral bonuses - earn extra when you refer a fellow healthcare professional Dedicated recruiter support before, during, and after your assignment What You'll Do Perform routine physical and screening examinations as part of primary care for an adult resident population Initiate routine laboratory tests and related diagnostic studies as appropriate (blood work, urinalysis, routine cultures, imaging, EKG) under the supervising physician's direction Perform routine therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, wound care, suturing of superficial wounds, suture removal, and dressing changes Perform splinting and casting of non-displaced fractures and minor surgical procedures within scope Recommend diagnostic and therapeutic plans, including pharmaceutical recommendations, for the supervising physician's final approval Document patient encounters, progress notes, and physician-directed orders in accordance with facility policies Conduct patient rounds independently or with the supervising physician as directed Consult with patients, family members, and outside medical providers to obtain medical history and coordinate care Participate on interdisciplinary treatment teams and contribute to patient care planning, including individual and group therapy sessions as assigned Perform related work as required within the scope of your license and the supervising physician's practice What You Bring - Required Graduation from an American Medical Association-approved Physician Assistant program OR successful completion of the National Commission Certification examination Active, unrestricted Nebraska Physician Assistant license, or eligibility for Nebraska PA licensure prior to assignment start Willingness to complete pre-placement and onboarding requirements, including the Nebraska Corrections Training Program at the Staff Training Academy What You Bring - Preferred Experience working as a Physician Assistant in a clinical primary care setting Prior experience in a correctional, institutional, or public health practice setting Current CPR and ACLS certification (required within one year of hire) Supervisory experience Experience with electronic health record systems used in state correctional or institutional settings Comfort working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with behavioral health and substance use needs About ShareSTAFF ShareSTAFF connects nursing and allied health professionals with travel and contract assignments at hospitals, state facilities, and healthcare organizations nationwide.
