Travel Nurse RN - Labor and Delivery - $2,319 per week

Position Summary Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Travel Labor and Delivery RN for a 13‑week assignment in Des Moines, Iowa. The role involves providing comprehensive obstetric nursing care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Job Details Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Work Hours: 36 hours per week (12‑hour nights) Employment Type: Travel Location: Facility in Des Moines, Iowa Responsibilities Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques. Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients. Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn. Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care. Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols. Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes. Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results. Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures. Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing. Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN. Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC). NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification. Preferred Qualifications AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification. STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC). Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position. Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and excellent interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English. Ability to read/write instructions, follow verbal instructions, and possess basic PC skills. Physical abilities to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel. Technical/motor skills for fine manipulation and assistance with procedures. Mental resilience to cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines, and handle irregular schedules. Visual acuity and effective communication.
