Solution Architect (Salesforce)

Position: Salesforce Solution Architect Client: Texas Genal Land Office (GLO) // Apex systems Location: 4 month contract to hire role. Rate : $80 to 85/hr on C2C (AI) /hr on C2C and the targeted conversion salary is $150,000 + benefits. Sub vending allowed: Yes Visa Constraints : No OPT, CPT and H1B The position will allow for mostly remote work (must be residing in Texas) but candidates that in Austin, TX will be given a large preference. If candidates are located in other cities in Texas, they must be ok with some occasional travel to Austin for on-site meetings (travel will not be reimbursed. Tx - General Land Office (GLO) - App Architect 3 / Solution Architect Contract-to-Hire | Veterans Land Board Role Type Contract to Hire (approx. 4 months before conversion eligibility). Upon conversion, candidate will interview for the FTE role directly with GLO. Target Compensation Up to $150K/year upon conversion to full-time. Candidate must be willing to accept an FTE salary at or below this target. Agency / Mission This role supports the Veterans Land Board , which delivers statewide services to Texas Veterans, including: Loan programs Benefit assistance & call center operations Veterans cemeteries Long-term care and nursing home support The team is preparing to launch multiple digital modernization efforts focused on improving the Veteran experience . Role Overview The Solution Architect will: Lead and support application modernization initiatives. Provide architectural leadership across Salesforce, integrations, and custom Java applications . Partner closely with Product Owners within a product-oriented operating model . Conduct customer journey mapping , identify pain points, and evaluate current systems. Define technical requirements , solution designs , and modernization roadmaps. Key Responsibilities Discovery & Customer Engagement (50%+) Interview business stakeholders and Veteran-facing teams to capture needs. Map the current customer journey and identify experience gaps. Determine whether the current solution stack supports business needs; if not, outline gaps and requirements. Architecture & Design Define end-to-end technical architecture for new or modernized solutions. Advise on how to best leverage Salesforce capabilities (custom objects, workflows, integrations, platform services). Support transitions from legacy systems and fragmented tools into a more unified architecture. Create integration patterns and data strategies that align with the target tech stack. Preferred Technical Experience Primary Focus Salesforce (core platform, custom development, integration patterns) → This is the main platform GLO intends to grow. Secondary / Bonus Skills Java full-stack background MuleSoft (target future integration layer) SSIS / SSRS understanding (current state) Power BI (target state for analytics) Experience evaluating or replacing 3rd-party applications Familiarity with Apache -based front-end environments Current Tech Environment Many existing applications are 3rd-party tools. Reporting built on SSIS/SSRS today → Power BI long-term. Integration future-state: MuleSoft . Modernization work is shifting toward Salesforce as the central platform.
