Diesel Mechanic Fleet Maintenance

Fleet Maintenance / Mechanic Metro Welding Supply, a family-owned and operated business since 1937, has grown to become one of the largest independent gas distributors and welding supply providers in Southeast Michigan. We are currently seeking a dependable Fleet Maintenance / Mechanic to join our Distribution team. In this role, you'll perform maintenance and repairs on our fleet of delivery trucks and service vehicles while helping keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. Position Details Full-Time | Monday-Friday | No Weekends Starting at $28.00 per hour, with higher starting wages considered based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit. Benefits Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance after 90 days 401(k) after 90 days 9 days of paid time off after 90 days 6 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays after 90 days Paid training Supportive team environment Opportunities for advancement Responsibilities Perform mechanical diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on company vehicles and equipment Monitor DOT inspections and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure compliance Maintain accurate electronic maintenance records Perform roadside service and repairs as needed Communicate with supervisors regarding vehicle availability, repair status, and maintenance scheduling Monitor inspection findings through company maintenance software and complete required documentation Assist in identifying opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce costs Source parts and outside labor when necessary while maintaining cost effectiveness Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Perform other maintenance and operational support duties as assigned Qualifications Strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Basic computer skills for maintenance logs, email, and mobile applications Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment as needed Strong attendance record and dependable work ethic CDL-A is a plus, but not required Schedule 8-hour shift Monday-Friday Occasional roadside assistance as needed We're looking for dependable individuals who want to build a long-term career with Metro Welding Supply.
