The Assembly Worker uses detailed assembly instructions, blueprints, and various hand and power tools to assemble mechanical and electrical components and subassemblies to precise specifications. This role focuses on accurate measurement, correct fit, and quality verification of completed parts while contributing to a collaborative production team. Responsibilities

• Read and follow assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, parts lists, and work orders to assemble components and subassemblies accurately.

• Use templates, tape measures, and other measuring tools to position parts and subassemblies according to required dimensions and layout.

• Assemble mechanical and electrical components by examining connections for correct fit and securely fastening parts and subassemblies.

• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly tasks, including wiring and building assemblies according to schematics and diagrams.

• Verify that completed components meet specifications by measuring dimensions and checking alignment and fit.

• Identify and resolve assembly problems by adjusting or altering dimensions to meet specifications, and promptly notify the supervisor when additional resources or support are needed.

• Maintain consistent productivity and quality standards, contributing to team goals and production targets as required.

• Cross-train in all areas of assembly to support different production lines and assist other departments when needed.

• Follow safety procedures when using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Support continuous improvement efforts by communicating issues, suggesting process improvements, and working collaboratively with team members.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how parts and assemblies fit and function together.

• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in an assembly or production environment.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, and assembly instructions.

• Skill in using measuring devices such as tape measures and templates to position and verify parts accurately.

• Experience with mechanical assembly, including fastening, aligning, and securing components.

• Experience with electrical assembly and wiring, including working from electrical schematics.

• Ability to lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds and perform constant standing throughout the shift.

• Attention to detail to ensure correct fit, alignment, and compliance with specifications.

• Problem-solving skills to identify assembly issues and make appropriate adjustments or escalate when necessary.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to shared production goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a production, manufacturing, construction, or similar hands-on environment.

• Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical components and assemblies.

• Ability to cross-train and adapt to different assembly tasks and departments as needed.

• Strong work ethic with a focus on quality, safety, and reliability.

• Willingness to work overtime when required to meet production demands.

Work Environment

The position is based in a very clean production facility where safety, organization, and quality are priorities. Work is performed on the 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with training initially provided on the 1st shift from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Overtime is typically scheduled toward the end of shifts as needed to meet production demands. The work involves constant standing, frequent use of hand and power tools, and lifting components up to 50 pounds in a structured assembly environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
