Controls Technician

A leading Tier I automotive supplier is seeking Controls Technicians to join the manufacturing groups in Highland Park to introduce the next generation of automation through the design, development, and implementation of new control systems. Responsibilities Responsible for the design, development, and installation of new PLC-based control systems. Provide production support by troubleshooting and resolving PLC-related issues. Produce and update documents including work/user instructions, functional specifications, design specifications, electrical and pneumatic schematics, etc. Conduct machine functionality and fault recovery testing and participate in project startup and machine commissioning. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, Production Supervisors, and other internal staff. Report unsafe and unhealthy conditions, as well as injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, and property damage immediately. Demonstrated experience (1+ years) in electrical control system design, PLC programming, and troubleshooting; willing to work overtime as required. Experience and knowledge using Allen Bradley PLC controls, RSLogix500/5000 platforms, PanelView, HMI applications, IFM, and Keyence inspection camera apps. Knowledge of DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP industrial networks. Familiar with Vision Systems, such as Keyence, Cognex, and Omron. Basic knowledge of the use of electrical devices, e.g., proximity switches, load cells, LVDTs, signal conditioners, etc. Ability to read and understand technical documents and schematic design specifications. Associate degree or electrical/electronic/mechatronic or similar engineering degree, or trades qualification.
