Business and Computer Science Teacher

General Responsibilities Under direction of the school principal, plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students. Create an atmosphere conducive to students’ intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. Supervise students in various settings, monitor and evaluate outcomes, and communicate with students, parents, staff, and community. Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintain appropriate records, follow required procedures, and monitor use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Essential Functions Plan a program of study that meets students’ needs, interests, and abilities. Regularly conduct and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations. Create a classroom environment that encourages student involvement and achievement of learning objectives. Provide an instructional program for all students. Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation as requested. Guide learning toward curriculum goals, establish clear objectives, and communicate them. Establish learning objectives aligned with VBCPS curriculum framework. Utilize instructional methods, resources, and evaluation techniques that motivate learning. Take necessary safety precautions for students, equipment, materials and facilities. Maintain accurate and complete records under law, policy, and regulation. Assist administration in implementing policies and rules, develop classroom behavior rules, and maintain order fairly. Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours when required. Build respectful relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community. Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers. Appraise personal effectiveness, demonstrate application of skills, and strive for professional growth. Participate in school management and share responsibility for the total program. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required. Perform other duties as required. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum and integration techniques, understanding of the teaching and learning process, ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education, ability to infuse technology, effective collaboration with administrators and colleagues, and excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. Education And Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university. Must have or be eligible for a teacher license from the Virginia Department of Education. Physical Requirements Use sensory skills for communication and interaction. Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, grasping, repetitive motion, and reaching. Occasional stooping and kneeling. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds rarely. Adherence to established work schedules. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential tasks. Special Requirements Possession of a valid driver’s license. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Benefits Entry‑level salary: $55,687. Salary will be based on creditable years of full‑time, verified experience.
