Job Title: SPED Instructional Assistant (K–12)
Location: Oro Valley, AZ
Type: Contract
Shift & Schedule: Days | Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM | 40 Hours Per Week
Pay: $20/hr - $23/hr
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students in a K–12 special education environment.
Responsibilities
Assist teachers with instructional activities, behavioral strategies, and IEP goals.
Support students with academic, daily living, and social skills.
Provide individual and small-group support under teacher guidance.
Monitor student safety and behavior.
Assist with mobility, positioning, feeding, toileting, and hygiene as needed.
Support students with communication needs, including AAC systems when applicable.
Document and report student performance, behavior, and progress.
Implement behavior-management strategies under teacher direction.
Encourage student independence and positive classroom participation.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and school staff.
Follow school, safety, confidentiality, and student-care policies.
Attend required training, professional development, and staff meetings.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma required.
Associate's degree, 60 college credit units, or valid Paraprofessional certification.
Crisis Intervention Training certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
Ability to pass required FBI and State background checks.
Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
Ability to provide physical assistance to students as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, teacher's aide, classroom aide, or similar role.
Experience working with K–12 special education students.
Knowledge of behavior-management techniques.
Experience with AAC or adaptive technology.
ASL or Braille skills when applicable.
$20 - $23 per hour
