Senior Accountant II
The Senior Accountant II performs essential accounting and reports for the Company in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
- Executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls.
- Analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Reviews and reconciles information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve processes and implement best practices.
- Assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines.
- Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development.
Role Specific Accountabilities
- Prepares various journals, account reconciliations, and monthly reports.
- Coordinates, consolidates, reports and prepares analysis of financial transactions to aid management in decision-making.
- Effectively interfaces with other Vistra personnel to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting deadlines are achieved.
- Participates in special projects as requested.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience: 3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field. Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required.
Skills: Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems. Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills. Process improvement oriented. Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process.
