Job Summary: This role supports collegiate athletes by providing comprehensive evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and coordination of care for musculoskeletal and neurological injuries. The position also emphasizes preventative care and education for patients, their families, healthcare staff, and the broader community. Acting as a vital link between athletes, physicians, and support services, the Athletic Trainer ensures seamless communication and care delivery. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Work Shift: First shift, full-time (40 hours per week). This position is located in a regional area of the Midwest United States.
- Applied Knowledge: A broad understanding of medical conditions related to athletic injuries is essential. Proficiency in assessment, evaluation, and collaboration with healthcare professionals is required.
- Decision-Making Skills: The ability to critically analyze situations and independently make informed decisions regarding treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play protocols in accordance with state licensure guidelines.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous documentation and injury tracking are crucial components of this role.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication under pressure with patients, medical teams, staff, and families is necessary. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision are also important.
- Provide onsite care including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.
- Assess injury risks, conduct ergonomic evaluations, and promote self-care and overall wellness.
- Maintain electronic records of all patient interactions.
- Develop and implement injury prevention programs tailored to individual needs.
- Educate athletes to minimize injury risks through awareness and prevention strategies.
- Recommend accommodations for athletes with restrictions related to their sport.
- Communicate injury status and care plans with physicians and coaching staff.
- Deliver medical care following established sports medicine protocols.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Board of Certification (BOC) credential required.
- State licensure for Athletic Trainers or progress toward obtaining licensure is necessary.
