Job Summary

Provide patient- and family-centered care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, adhering to best practices and professional standards for exercise physiologists. Collaborate closely with nursing and respiratory therapy teams to deliver high-quality cardiopulmonary diagnostic and rehabilitative services.

Essential Responsibilities

Under physician supervision, perform non-invasive cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ECG, rhythm strips, heart monitor hookups, treadmill and nuclear stress tests, stress echocardiograms, and Dobutamine echo and nuclear tests. Collect relevant cardiopulmonary histories by engaging patients with targeted questions. Maintain departmental productivity and statistical records. Participate as a member of cardiac fast response teams on inpatient units. Apply clinical judgment considering patient age, diagnosis, and physical capabilities. Edit ECG and stress test reports per policy. Manage event recorder data and collaborate with physicians and patients during review and reporting. Promote a safe environment focused on patient safety and adhere to departmental and organizational policies.

Fiscal Responsibilities: Use time and resources efficiently, support scheduling and supply management initiatives, ensure accurate documentation for patient charges, and chart assessment data thoroughly. Assess patients before, during, and after exercise sessions, making appropriate referrals and recommendations.

Quality and Teamwork

Engage as a collaborative team player in continuous quality improvement efforts, assist in new participant orientation and individualized care planning, contribute expertise to multidisciplinary teams, and identify psychosocial adaptations to illness. Participate in data collection and reporting of patient and program outcomes.

Patient Satisfaction

Enhance patient satisfaction by supporting nursing staff in developing improvement strategies, apply contemporary health behavior change theories to assist participants in lifestyle modifications, assess modifiable risk factors, and practice relationship-based care. Patient Safety: Supervise exercise sessions, monitor for adverse responses, apply exercise science knowledge to cardiovascular and pulmonary populations, adjust exercise prescriptions regularly, report significant changes promptly, and follow safety protocols.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in a health-related field or Exercise Science required. Minimum one year of cardiology experience preferred for health-related degree holders. Area-specific certifications such as ACLS and BLS to be obtained and maintained. Licensure Preferred: ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) ASEP Board Certified Exercise Physiologist (EPC) Work Shift: 7:30am 6:00pm (Regional U.S.) Scheduled Weekly Hours: PRN (as needed)
