Acts as the communication hub for the department. Performs departmental record keeping. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology. Orders, stocks and organizes office and unit supplies. Maintains an accurate census and communicates this to all appropriate department in a timely and effective manner. Accurately and completely interprets cardiac rhythm strips and verifies appropriate and safe settings of alarms in collaboration with the nursing staff. Notifies RN of any changes in the patient's rhythm strip within a timely manner. Accounts for the telemetry units on a shift by shift basis and will report any discrepancy. Qualifications Successful completion of a Basic EKG Course Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course or equivalent Prior experience as a Unit Secretary preferred Basic Computer Skills Organization Description Desert Care Network serves the healthcare needs of the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin regions in Southern California with three hospitals Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio and Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree.
