Litigation Docket Clerk

Overview

A leading law firm is seeking a Litigation Docket Clerk to join its San Francisco office. This role provides critical docketing, e-filing, and administrative support to the firm's managing attorney function and litigation support team. The position requires frequent interaction with attorneys, leadership, and staff, serving as a key point of contact within the department. A strong client service mindset, professionalism, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update litigation docketing systems by recording case information and tracking deadlines

  • Calculate and monitor procedural due dates under supervision

  • Provide e-filing support through federal (PACER/CM/ECF) and state court systems

  • Assist with ongoing maintenance and accuracy of the litigation docket

  • Provide administrative support to the managing attorney function and department leadership
  • Prepare, proofread, and format correspondence, reports, and other legal/administrative documents
  • Create and maintain departmental files, databases, and internal resources
  • Perform data entry and coordinate with firm personnel to ensure data accuracy
  • Prepare and process invoices, maintaining organized financial records
  • Support development and documentation of departmental policies and procedures
  • Assist with additional projects and administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required

  • Minimum of 1 year of litigation experience in a law firm or corporate legal environment

  • Experience with docketing/calendaring systems (e.g., Milana, eDockets, CompuLaw, MA3000) preferred

  • Familiarity with federal e-filing systems (CM/ECF, PACER) and/or California state court e-filing strongly preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based systems

  • Experience working with databases and data management tools

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professionalism and client service (internal and external)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings, as needed
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
