Senior Storage Architect

NetApp to Pure FlashBladePosition OverviewWe are seeking a self-motivated Senior Storage Migration Engineer to support a NAS data migration from NetApp ONTAP to Pure Storage FlashBlade. This role will be responsible for leading key migration activities, including discovery, planning, migration job configuration, incremental syncs, cutover execution, and post-migration validation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with storage migrations, understands the technical considerations involved in moving NAS/file data, and has previously supported migration or cutover efforts from NetApp to Pure Storage or similar enterprise storage platforms.Key Responsibilities

• Partner with customer technical teams to assess the existing NetApp ONTAP environment and gather migration requirements.
• Review source storage configuration details, including export policies, CIFS/SMB shares, NFS exports, quotas, permissions, and SnapMirror relationships.
• Provision and configure target storage resources on Pure Storage FlashBlade, including file systems, SMB shares, NFS exports, and quotas.
• Use DobiMigrate to run discovery and assessment scans, build migration jobs, configure path mappings, manage throttling, and oversee incremental syncs.
• Plan and execute migration cutovers, including pre-checks, write freezes, final delta syncs, validation, cutover activities, and rollback planning.
• Validate post-migration data integrity, permissions, ACLs, UID/GID mappings, and reconciliation reports.
• Coordinate with customer teams for Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, DNS, firewall, and networking dependencies.
• Communicate migration status, risks, issues, and next steps to stakeholders throughout the engagement. Required Qualifications
• Strong experience supporting enterprise storage migrations, preferably involving NAS/file data migrations and production cutovers.
• Hands-on experience with NetApp ONTAP, including the ability to understand export policies, CIFS/SMB shares, quotas, SnapMirror relationships, and volume permission styles.
• Experience with Pure Storage FlashBlade, including file system provisioning, NFS exports, SMB shares, quotas, and basic capacity/performance validation using Purity or Pure1.
• Hands-on experience operating DobiMigrate or a similar data migration platform.
• Working knowledge of SMB, NFS, NTFS permissions, UNIX permissions, mixed security styles, ACLs, UID/GID mapping, and identity resolution.
• Familiarity with Active Directory, LDAP, and Kerberos concepts as they relate to SMB and NFS access.
• Ability to troubleshoot migration issues related to permissions, source-to-target mapping, performance, connectivity, and cutover readiness.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with customer infrastructure, storage, directory services, and networking teams. Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience migrating data from NetApp to Pure Storage.
• Experience supporting large-scale NAS migrations with business-critical applications or end-user file shares.
• Ability to create or follow detailed migration runbooks and cutover plans.
• Experience validating storage performance, access permissions, and data reconciliation after migration.
• Comfortable working in customer-facing technical environments with shared responsibilities across internal and customer teams. Engagement ExpectationsThe engineer will be expected to lead and execute migration activities related to Pure FlashBlade provisioning and DobiMigrate operations while collaborating closely with the customer's internal teams. The customer is expected to provide historical context for the NetApp environment and support directory services, DNS, firewall, and network changes as needed. The engineer should have enough working knowledge across ONTAP, identity services, and networking to ask the right questions, validate inputs, identify risks, and ensure a smooth migration and cutover.

6. Cutover Coordination

• Simple run-book: pre-checks ? sync ? freeze writes ? final delta ? validate ? cutover ? rollback plan
• Joint communication to end users/app owners with customer's help Division of labor assumption: the WWT engineer needs to be strong in FlashBlade provisioning and DobiMigrate operation (the parts the customer likely hasn't done before), while leaning on the customer for NetApp environment history, AD/LDAP directory administration, and network/DNS changes . The engineer still needs enough working knowledge of ONTAP, LDAP, and networking to ask the right questions and validate the customer's inputs - but doesn't need to be the expert executing those pieces solo.
