Payroll Specialist - Hybrid

Overview Join Vitality Living as a Payroll Specialist in a hybrid role, contributing to a vibrant community that supports residents, families, and staff. In this position, you will process bi‑weekly payroll for all locations, support new user training, and respond to payroll inquiries, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Responsibilities Protect personally identifiable information and maintain confidentiality of payroll data. Execute comprehensive processes for timely and accurate bi‑weekly payroll, including employee status changes, terminations, tax jurisdiction changes, statutory deductions, bonuses, commissions, etc. Support internal audit and controls by monitoring audit reports and building payroll reports as required. Maintain working knowledge of payroll transactions—preparation, balancing, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions—throughout system releases. Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports in accordance with retention policies. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, documenting findings and communicating outcomes. Manage the payroll email inbox and respond to inquiries. Conduct training for new users and ongoing training as new releases impact payroll. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and best practices. Assist with year‑end payroll functions, including distribution of 1095Cs, W‑2s, and replacement forms. Help staff with basic HRIS questions and training. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Details Hybrid role: 3 days in office located in Brentwood, TN. Hourly / Non‑Exempt. Qualifications Associate’s degree or higher preferred in accounting, finance, or related field. 3–5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably multi‑site/multi‑state. Strong Microsoft Excel skills (functions, formulas, filters, sorts, pivot tables). Knowledge and ability to use HRIS systems. Excellent verbal and written communication. Attention to detail and deadline orientation. Ability to prioritize multiple projects independently while maintaining communication on progress. Trusted with confidential financial and payroll data, handling privacy with diplomacy and respect. Working knowledge of UKG or Paycom preferred. Intermediate math skills.
