Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Washington State EL01 Journeyman Electrician to support our critical power operations, with a primary focus on UPS battery installation, replacement, maintenance, and related electrical work.

This position is responsible for performing electrical work associated with UPS and battery systems while providing direct oversight and supervision of electrical trainees performing battery installations. The successful candidate will ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and in compliance with applicable Washington State electrical requirements, company procedures, customer requirements, and industry standards.

This is a hands-on position for an experienced electrician who is comfortable working in mission-critical environments and taking responsibility for the work performed by trainees under their supervision.

Washington State EL01 Journeyman Electrician License is REQUIRED.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee installation, replacement, maintenance, and removal of batteries used in UPS and critical power systems.
• Provide direct, on-site supervision of electrical trainees performing battery installation and related electrical work.
• Ensure trainees perform work within the scope permitted under Washington State requirements and company procedures.
• Maintain responsibility for the quality and safety of electrical work performed under your supervision.
• Install, terminate, connect, disconnect, and test electrical components associated with UPS and battery systems.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, manufacturer's documentation, and installation instructions.
• Verify proper installation, polarity, torque, connections, labeling, and configuration of battery strings and associated equipment.
• Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting of UPS and battery systems as required.
• Identify unsafe conditions, installation deficiencies, or potential equipment issues and take appropriate corrective action.
• Complete required documentation, including installation records, test results, inspection forms, service reports, and customer documentation.
• Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, supervisors, and other field personnel.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all applicable OSHA, Washington State L&I, electrical safety, PPE, lockout/tagout, and company requirements.
• Follow manufacturer specifications and customer-specific procedures when working on critical power equipment.
• Assist with commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and service activities as needed.
• Travel to customer sites and work in data centers, commercial facilities, industrial facilities, and other critical-power environments.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current Washington State EL01 Journeyman Electrician license in good standing.
• Demonstrated experience performing electrical installations and/or service work.
• Experience working with UPS systems, battery systems, DC power systems, or critical power equipment strongly preferred.
• Ability and willingness to directly supervise electrical trainees in the field.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and safe work procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
• Ability to use electrical test equipment and hand/power tools safely.
• Ability to work independently while also effectively directing and mentoring trainees.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel to customer locations as required.
• Ability to work in data centers and other critical-facility environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with commercial, industrial, data center, or mission-critical electrical systems.
• Experience with UPS systems and battery technologies, including VRLA, flooded lead-acid, lithium-ion, or other stationary battery systems.
• Experience with manufacturers such as [Vertiv / Eaton / Schneider Electric / ABB / Mitsubishi / other applicable manufacturers].
• Experience performing UPS battery replacements, installations, preventive maintenance, or commissioning.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• NFPA 70E training.
• Experience working around energized electrical equipment and following established electrical safety procedures.
• Previous experience mentoring or supervising electrical apprentices/trainees.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

• Lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in confined or restricted areas.
• Use hand and power tools for extended periods.
• Work around electrical equipment, battery systems, and industrial/critical-power equipment.
• Wear required PPE for extended periods.
• Work in data centers and other facilities where environmental conditions may vary.
• Safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

This position routinely works in data centers, commercial facilities, industrial facilities, and other mission-critical environments.
