Corporate Counsel - Labor & Employment

This attorney, working in the Legal Affairs Department, will represent T-Mobile and provide counsel to business units and Human Resources on employment and labor-related legal matters, with a focus on the Retail line of business; prepare and review legal documents including pleadings, briefs, position statements and other filings in pre-litigation and litigation, with a focus on employment arbitrations; and assist with other matters as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical day-to-day employment-law counseling to HR and internal clients to identify and manage employment legal risks.
• Engage and work with outside counsel to manage employment litigation (primarily employment-law arbitrations) and administrative proceedings with a focus on creative strategies, cost reduction, and efficient resolutions.
• Prepare responses to agency charges and demand letters.
• Develop and review written HR policies, guidelines, templates, and forms.
• Develop and deliver legal training to HR and other internal clients.
• Provide employment law advice regarding internal investigations.
• Advise and help clients understand employment-law compliance issues.
• Counsel and advise clients on a wide variety of complex and developing employment-related legal and business issues.

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of experience as an employment attorney, with relevant in-house and/or top law firm experience
• Minimum 4 years, preferably 6+ years, of experience handling litigation involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and other employment-related claims, with a focus on employment arbitrations
• Exposure to international employment law, labor relations, or ERISA is preferred
• Ability to work independently and effectively despite ambiguity and rapid change
• Excellent writing skills with a focus on providing practical advice
• Amazing oral communication skills with a focus on clearly conveying complex employment-law concepts, risks, and options to HR and other internal clients
• Strong judgment to weigh what is best for customers, the business, employees, and legal risks
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to collaborate with other legal and business professionals to deliver results efficiently
• Business sense with negotiation and drafting skills
• Ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and balance multiple priorities
• Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in the US

Base Pay Range: $123,200 - $222,200

Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The actual pay will be based on location, qualifications, and experience, and may vary within this range.
