At Uncle Giuseppes our passion is pleasing our customers with a great food experience! We have an exciting FT Assistant Deli Manager opportunity at our East Meadow Store. We create a welcoming environment with handmade dishes and gourmet foods, presented with exceptional and personalized service. This fast paced position requires quick thinking and efficiency coupled with a passion for excellent customer service. Responsibilities Assist in the Deli Department, cutting meats and cheeses, preparing salads, assisting customers with attention to the total operations of the department Supervise employees in various duties such as cooking, serving, packaging, and operating counters Manage product storage, maintenance and rotation activities to avoid any damages or spoilages Assist in preparation of inventory Schedule and assign works for associates on daily basis Assist in interviewing, hiring and training associates Provide training to staff on company policies and sales guidelines Respond to queries and complaints from both customer and employee, working with employees to operate the Deli counter Ensure employees follow company policies and store rules Develop sales promotion programs to attract more customers Ensure that products are properly labeled with prices and dates Monitor and maintain stock inventory levels to avoid over and under stock problems Operate all food preparation machines and equipment Receive, unload and stock the food items Ensure that facility is maintained neat, clean and safe Other duties and functions as assigned Requirements HS Diploma or equivalent A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a busy Deli with at least 1 of those years in a management position Excellent customer service skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(K), 50% lunch discount, 25% shopping discount and much more! Working Conditions Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance. Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents. Employment Type: Full Time
