Description:
Unit consists of 7 OR suites.
Approximately 15-20 cases are performed per day.
Techs and RNs must have BLS certification.
The electronic medical record system used is Cerner Surginet.
Charge Nurses are present, but not 24/7.
OR techs are available.
RNs are required to take one weekend of call per month.
CSTs are also required to take one weekend of call per month.
Call response time is 30 minutes.
Staff may only work holidays in emergencies.
Scrub color is provided.
Telecommunication system used is Phillips.
Surgeons are on-call 24/7.
An IV Team is not available 24/7.
Pharmacy is not available 24/7; alternative options are available after hours.
Shifts are 8 hours long with variable start times.
The manager creates the schedule.
Floating is not required.
Floor-specific orientation is based on skillset.
Common types of cases include a high volume of orthopedic surgeries, general surgeries, gynecologic surgeries, pediatric surgeries, and eye surgeries.
Experience in cardiac cases is not necessary, as travelers will not be assigned these cases.
Scrubbing is required.
While scrubbing is preferred for RNs, it is not mandatory.
Certification for sterile processing technicians requires BLS and certification through the appropriate agency.
Equipment used includes autoclaves such as Steris and V-pro.
The facility has a cancellation policy that allows for the cancellation of up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
The charting system used is Cerner.
A BSN is not required.
This is an acute care setting.
Allied health division.
Shifts include 11a-7p rotating weekend call.
