Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) Travel Contract – Amarillo, Texas

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,550-$1,630
• Location: Amarillo, Texas
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 4 shifts per week; 12-hour shifts from 1:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36-hour or 48-hour weekly option
• Patient Population: Infants, adolescents, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients
• Department Volume: Approximately 165 daily visits in a 49-room Emergency Department
• Charting System: Epic electronic health record (EHR)
• Scheduling Expectations: Weekend coverage is required. Floating to units of equal or lesser acuity, and potentially to the ICU, is required.

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or a valid compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
• Current PALS or NRP certification
• Experience with Epic or another electronic health record system
• Ability to provide emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan in a fast-paced setting
• Comfort with weekend coverage, floating, and a 36- or 48-hour workweek

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver timely, evidence-based nursing care to emergency patients from infancy through geriatrics
• Perform focused assessments, triage, ongoing monitoring, and reassessments based on patient acuity
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including dysrhythmias and other emergent presentations
• Provide care for ventilated patients and manage central lines according to established protocols
• Apply appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment practices
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Float to units of equal or lesser acuity, with potential ICU assignment, as directed by department needs
• Support safe, efficient patient flow while maintaining patient dignity and quality standards
