Cardiac Sonographer - Per Diem

Cardiac Sonographer Hourly Pay Range: $33.35 - $51.69 Location: Arlington Heights (float to Kildeer) PRN Hours: 7:00–3:30 or 4:30 M‑F What you will do: Perform non‑invasive ultrasound scans of the heart to assist physicians in diagnosing medical disorders, reporting to the Cardiac Services Manager. Monitor patient condition, maintain equipment and supplies, and disinfect equipment and transducers per guidelines. Execute cardiac diagnostic ultrasound procedures per NCH protocol, including stress echos, dobutamine stress echos, transesophageal echos, and 2‑D echo with color flow and spectral Doppler. Operate stationary and portable ultrasound units and complete all tests in a timely manner. Coordinate testing with other departments to promote throughput and reduce length of stay. Respond to stat echocardiogram procedures, including on‑call situations, in a timely manner. Explain examination procedures and provide instructions and guidance to patients and families. Assist patients from wheelchairs or stretchers onto the examining table, ensuring proper coverage. Monitor patient condition frequently during the cardiac diagnostic area and report any critical changes. Assess, treat, and care for all age groups (neonatal through geriatric) and involve family in the care plan. Perform LV enhancement imaging and determine appropriateness of image enhancing agents. Chart and charge for tests properly in the EMR according to department policy. Enter patient demographics into the ultrasound machine and choose the appropriate study type (DSE, Stress, Complete, Limited). Store required images and transmit studies to reporting and long‑term archiving systems. Troubleshoot equipment problems and initiate service calls promptly. Complete all orders in the electronic patient record to facilitate accurate billing and record studies in the logbook. Schedule inpatients into the daily schedule using the computerized scheduling program. Maintain and clean equipment and accessories daily, wipe probes after each use, and report broken or malfunctioning equipment. Maintain organization and cleanliness in the cardiac diagnostic area and order supplies or cleaning service as needed. Assist in training technologists and interns and collaborate with other technologists for self‑scheduling. Share on‑call responsibilities with other technologists. Engage in continuing education, seminars, conferences, and professional journals for professional growth. Adhere to Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, procedures, and NCH standards on protecting patient information. Education & Certifications Current registration in Cardiac Sonographer/Echo RDCS, RCS, or registry‑eligible. Current CPR certification.
