Kitchen CookThe Cook position supports the kitchen team by preparing and serving wholesome, nutritious meals. Insures that youth health needs are met by adhering to meal plans and change orders from the Food Services Manager and the Health Services Department. The duties of the Cook position are performed in compliance with the guidelines of HACCP and Child Nutrition program.Gateway Longview's Education programs support K through 12th grade students who struggle with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. Compensation is $17.00 - $18.45 per hour, offers based on education and years of relevant experience. Schedule includes weekends and evenings. Gateway Longview has a strong investment in developing the future leaders of the organization through trainings, advancement opportunities, and a formal leadership pipeline.Position specific duties/responsibilities include:Prepare nutritious meals according to approved menus, in proper quantities and in compliance with health, sanitation and Child Nutrition requirements daily.Clean and sanitize work stations immediately after each use.Serve meals or packaged meals on time and in compliance with health and sanitation requirements.Prepare all food as needed to meet menu requirements.Properly label and store food preparations in compliance with health & sanitation requirements daily.Retrieve stock for daily food preparation and support receiving, stocking, and rotating inventory to ensure freshness and accuracy.Responsible for opening and/or closing down the kitchen and dining area, and securing the area prior to leaving at the end of the shift.Assists with washing dishes and clean up after daily meals.Any additional duties assigned by immediate supervisorRequirements include:Ability to multi-task and be detail orientedAbility to work independently and be an enthusiastic team playerAbility to work effectively with youth and staff from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgroundsAbility to accept supervision and perform as part of a teamAbility to be flexible and adapt to changeQualifications include:High School Diploma or GEDOne year field related experience, knowledge of quantity cooking and use of commercial kitchen equipment requiredAn EEO/AA Agency.
