Position is responsible for the daily coordination of assigned area. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring standard work is being performed, and identifying and resolving quality issues. This position can apply their experience to problem solve and complete advanced tasks/work effectively and efficiently with little to no supervision.What You Will Be DoingClamp, hold, tack-weld, grind component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders.Chip or grind off excess weld or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers & portable grinders.Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc & plasma arc.Position and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machines or hand tools.Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.What We Need (Required Skills):Advanced skills in welding, fabrication & fittingAdvanced knowledge and expertise in aluminum weldingAdvanced knowledge in standard build practices in comparable manufacturing environmentsAdvanced in most complex shop skills/tasksFollows directions and procedures under limited supervision.Adheres to all procedures and safe work practices.Conducts basic problem-solving skills under supervision.Capable of leading team members at Dept. Lead or Supervisor's directionActive Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems.Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.Experience & Education Needed:Any combination of training, education, or experience equivalent to a minimum of 5 overall years of experience in expertise.Aluminum experience required, GMAW (MIG)Requires a superior working knowledge in the usage of production machinery, common hand tools, handheld power tools and fabricating equipment.Able to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols.Experience in marine industry/boat building preferred.Ability to pass a welding skill test appropriate for the position.Marine experience preferredPhysical Requirements:Lift up to 40 lbs.Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.Bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasksMust be able to work at heights and/or confined spacesUse of Manufacturing equipmentForklift and scissor lift operationsAll new hires are subject to pre-employment drug screenings, background checks, and E-Verify, according to federal law.
