Position Highlights: This position is full time on second shift, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM with rotating weekends and holidays. Click here for more information.Position Highlights: Licensed Professional Counselors within the correctional setting provide a range of clinical and case management functions to men entering the custody of the Department of Correction. The incumbent in this position will have the opportunity to: Work within a clinically rich setting;Provide intake assessments, individual psychotherapy, crisis management, suicide risk assessment, case management services and other clinical activities;Engage in collaborative discharge planning with external support services and research driven programming.Professional Counselors work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team comprised of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and APRNs, as well as medical personnel and custody staff, all sharing the common goal of providing high quality, service-oriented care.About the Connecticut Department of Correction:Since 1968, the Connecticut Department of Correction has proudly served and protected the citizens of the State of Connecticut, by daily ensuring the safety, security and order of our 14-correctional facilities in a manner which is widely viewed as a national model. About York Correctional Institution: The York Correctional Institution is a high-security facility. It serves as the state's only institution for female offenders. It serves all superior courts in Connecticut and manages all pretrial and sentenced female offenders, whatever their security level. In 2008 the institution was named the Facility of the Year by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care for its excellence in health service delivery. The accompanying accreditation has been renewed as of June of 2011.
