Community Employment Program Specialist (S) The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. The Community Employment Program Specialist position is located in Davidson County, Lexington unit office. The position provides services to persons who have disabilities which prevent them from independently obtaining, maintaining, or retaining employment. The Community Employment Program Specialist/Business Relations Representative (BRR) works in partnership with Rehabilitation Counselors and Vocational Evaluators to determine suitable vocational options for individuals with disabilities and subsequently assist them in obtaining competitive employment within the community. The incumbent will also develop and maintain relationships with employers in the Davidson County area. Job responsibilities include the following: Assists in the placement of eligible consumers in compatible, and competitive employment that is consistent with their interests and abilities. Works closely with counselors to determine appropriate vocational goals for consumers and identify the availability of similar positions in the community. Teaching employment marketing classes to job-ready consumers. Teaching job retention classes. Provides written and verbal feedback to counselors regarding the progress of referred consumers' efforts to obtain employment. Coordinates in-school work adjustment programs. Meets with local and regional employers to explain agency mission and goals and to obtain their agreement and commitment to hire vocational rehabilitation (VR) consumers. Participates in job fairs and other community events to promote the agency and its consumers as well as represent the work unit on boards and committees as designated by the Unit Manager and or Counselor in Charge. Is heavily involved in the planning and implementation of National Disability Employment Awareness events. Salary Range: $35,596.00-$62,294.00 Recruitment Range: $35,596.00-$55,000.00 Position is funded in part through federal funds. Posting closes at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
