Early Head Start Teacher – Infant & Toddler Classroom (1- & 2-Year-Olds)
Union County Community Action, Inc.
Work Location- Hamlet, Richmond County, NC

 

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking caring and passionate early childhood educators to join our Early Head Start team. This position works with 1- and 2-year-old children in a nurturing classroom environment that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while building strong partnerships with families.

Starting Rate: Up to $18 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday 7:30am-3:30pm (40 hours/week)

Key Responsibilities
• Provide nurturing care and supervision for infants and toddlers
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities and routines
• Foster children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment
• Observe and assess children’s developmental progress
• Communicate regularly with families regarding children’s growth and daily activities
• Conduct parent conferences and home visits as required
• Collaborate with classroom staff and support specialists
• Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements

Qualifications
• EHS Teacher- High School Diploma or GED &  Infant/Toddler CDA credential 
• EHS Teacher I- AA degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children preferred
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for early childhood education and family engagement
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to actively supervise infants and toddlers, frequently bend, kneel, sit on the floor, lift and carry children, and move throughout classroom and outdoor environments. Position requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
