About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director of External Affairs and Engagement to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive external affairs strategy that enhances the organization's visibility, influence, and stakeholder engagement. This role involves building and maintaining strategic relationships with a diverse range of leaders, including those in the civic, business, education, philanthropic, and government sectors. The Managing Director will also lead the organization's communications, marketing, and brand strategy, ensuring consistent messaging and effective storytelling across all channels. Additionally, the role includes overseeing government and community affairs, leading engagement with elected officials and public agencies, and supporting the organization's advocacy and civic visibility strategies. Applicants for the Managing Director position should have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and a minimum of 7-10 years' professional experience in external affairs, communications, public affairs, community engagement, marketing, partnerships, event management, or nonprofit leadership. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex stakeholder engagement efforts, high-profile events, and will possess strong project management, organizational, and strategic planning skills. A deep understanding of and commitment to the values of the organization is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple priorities. The role requires a candidate with strong communication, writing, public speaking, and presentation skills, and the flexibility to attend evening and weekend events as needed.
