From ice and court to turf and digital, we offer a wide array of recreational sports experiences designed to build community, foster connection, and change lives for the better.Rate of Pay: $18.75 - $20.75/ hourCanlan Ice Sports is currently looking for an Ice Maintenance Person (non-ticketed)The Ice Maintenance Person is a pro-active and hands-on individual who performs general maintenance to ensure facility upkeep and regular flooding of ice rinks is completed in a timely and safe manner. Their primary responsibilities include ice resurfacing and edging (operating the Ice Resurfacer), janitorial work and general maintenance of facility.ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codesResponsible for Ice Maintenance tasks includingIce Resurfacer operationEdger operationIce depth measurementIce chopping/spuddingLevelling the IceIce PaintingDasher Board system repairArena Glass replacementHockey net refurbishmentExecute maintenance and repair of facility fixtures and componentsJanitorial duties as assigned. These may include janitorial checklists, vacuuming, auto scrubbing, waxing and buffing in line with established floor care proceduresEnsure that entrances, grounds, and parking lot are kept clean, clear and safe including:Property & grounds cleanupGrass cutting and edgingSeasonal snow and debris removalPerform minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment including:Ice Resurfacer safety check, clean and waxSafe blade changes and grease machine as neededMaintain appropriate checklists, records and reports including Ice Resurfacer sign out / safety checkQualifications and EducationCompleted high school education or equivalent (preferred)Valid driver's license (preferred)Abilities, Attributes and ExperiencePrevious experience, training and operation of ice resurfacing equipmentWillingness and ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends)Approachable and team orientated with great communication skillsDemonstrated strong mechanical aptitude (preferred)Trade or Janitorial experience is an advantageOrganised, self-motivated and proactiveIf you are interested in learning more and becoming part of the Canlan team please apply online.NOTE: Only those applicants under consideration will be contacted.
