A Licensed HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. The job requires knowledge of mechanical and electrical components, as well as experience in diagnosing and solving problems related to HVAC systems.

Some specific duties of an HVAC Service Technician may include:

• Install and maintain HVAC systems: HVAC Service Technicians install, maintain, and repair heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. They may work on a variety of systems, including air conditioners, furnaces, boilers, and heat pumps.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems: HVAC Service Technicians are responsible for identifying the root cause of any issues with HVAC systems. They use diagnostic tools and their knowledge of the systems to identify problems and come up with solutions.
• Repair and replace components: HVAC Service Technicians repair or replace any faulty or worn components in HVAC systems. This may involve replacing a motor, fixing a leak, or replacing a compressor.
• Perform regular maintenance: HVAC systems require regular maintenance to ensure they operate efficiently and effectively. HVAC Service Technicians perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning ducts, replacing filters, and inspecting components for wear and tear.
• Provide excellent customer service: HVAC Service Technicians interact with customers on a regular basis, so they must be able to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service. They must be able to explain problems and solutions clearly and professionally.
• Keep up with industry trends: HVAC Service Technicians must stay up to date on industry trends, new technologies, and regulations. They may attend training sessions or workshops to keep their skills and knowledge current.
• Maintain accurate records: HVAC Service Technicians must maintain accurate records of all work performed, including repairs, maintenance, and installations. This information may be used for billing purposes or to provide documentation to customers or regulatory agencies.

To be a successful HVAC Service Technician, you will need to have a combination of technical and interpersonal skills. Here are some of the key skills needed:

• Must be Licensed in the State of Connecticut (S-1, S-2, D1, D-2)
• Experience performing preventive maintenance, system diagnostics, and complex HVAC repairs with minimal supervision
• Able to install HVAC equipment for residential homes in new construction and add on replacement environments
• Technical knowledge: As an HVAC Service Technician, you will need to have a strong understanding of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. You should be able to diagnose and repair problems with these systems, as well as perform regular maintenance tasks.
• Electrical and mechanical skills: You should have a good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, as HVAC systems involve both.
• Extensive hands-on experience servicing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential HVAC systems. Construction or installation experience is a plus
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, pumps, fans, valves, and other HVAC equipment
• Proficient in electrical diagnostics, including reading wiring diagrams, using multimeters and ohmmeters, and troubleshooting low- and high-voltage electrical components.
• Attention to detail: HVAC systems are complex and require attention to detail to diagnose and repair problems accurately.
• Problem-solving skills: HVAC Service Technicians often encounter unexpected problems, so you should be able to think on your feet and come up with creative solutions.
• Communication skills: You will need to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors. This includes explaining problems and solutions clearly and professionally.
• Time management skills: HVAC Service Technicians often have multiple tasks to complete in a short amount of time. You should be able to prioritize tasks and manage your time effectively.
