Sanitation Equipment Operator - Automated

Job Title

Performs responsible, skilled work involving the operation of large side-loading automated vehicles (65,000 GVW) to collect residential and commercial refuse from designated areas of the City of Orlando.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Sanitation Supervisor. Performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through direct observation of routes, trip tickets, and discussion of problems.

Minimum Qualifications: Completion of the Solid Waste Driver program or two (2) years of experience operating heavy equipment vehicles of 18,000 GVW or more and familiarity with hydraulics operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Class B CDL required. Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:

• Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
• Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
• Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
