Materials Supervisor

PurposeResponsible for supervising all materials-related operations on the night shift to ensure uninterrupted production support and efficient material flow. This position oversees shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control (including cycle counting), and production material support while ensuring compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and quality standards.This role serves as the primary materials leadership presence during off-shift hours, ensuring execution of the production plan, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting plant objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Supervise Materials Team Leads, drivers, and warehouse personnel on night shift; drive accountability, performance, and adherence to standardsMaintain and approve employee timecards, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policiesEnsure uninterrupted material flow to production lines in alignment with the production scheduleMonitor and escalate material shortages or risks impacting production or customer deliveryOversee all shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with customer and system requirementsVerify proper material transactions, labeling, and documentation within Plex and associated systemsOversee and execute cycle count activities to ensure 100% completion, target accuracy, and PFEP complianceEnsure PFEP adherence through proper material presentation, storage locations, container management, and replenishment methodsInvestigate inventory discrepancies and escalate findings to Materials Planning for root cause analysis and corrective actionEnsure compliance with material handling, storage, traceability, and inventory control standardsLead shift-level response to material-related issues, including containment and support of non-conforming material processesCommunicate critical issues and shift performance to leadership; ensure effective shift handoff to day shiftDrive continuous improvement in material flow, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiencySupport plant objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost, including audit readiness and adherence to proceduresPerform other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired Education & ExperienceAssociate’s Degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)1–3+ years of experience in materials, warehouse, or logistics in a manufacturing environmentSupervisory or leadership experience strongly preferredAutomotive experience preferredCompetenciesLeadership and Team DevelopmentProblem Solving / Root Cause AnalysisStrong Organizational SkillsSense of Urgency and Decision MakingCommunication Across All LevelsKnowledge of Inventory Control and Material FlowERP/MRP Systems (Plex preferred)Understanding of IATF and customer requirementsSupervisory ResponsibilityDirect supervision of Materials Team Leads, drivers, and warehouse personnel on assigned shiftWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on the plant floor.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
