Entry-Level Mechanic / Shop Coordinator

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Entry-Level Mechanic / Shop Coordinator to support our shop operations in Traverse City, MI. This role is ideal for someone with basic mechanical knowledge who is eager to learn and grow within the concrete construction industry. The Shop Coordinator will help maintain, organize, and repair tools and equipment used in concrete forming and finishing while assisting with daily shop and yard operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with basic maintenance and repairs of construction equipment (hand tools, power tools, small engines, etc.)
• Assist Shop Manager with inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
• Clean, organize, and maintain shop, yard, and equipment storage areas
• Load and unload equipment, materials, and supplies
• Operate forklifts and skid loaders (training available if needed)
• Track tools and equipment to ensure proper inventory and availability
• Prepare tools and materials for field crews
• Perform general labor tasks as needed to support shop and field operations
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications Leather work boots (steel or composite toe protection are recommended) Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s). Ability to pass drug screening. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

Work Environment/Physical Demand This position works outside at job locations, traveling to the field to work and supervise projects daily. This position will demand long periods of walking, standing, and working in all sorts of weather (hot, cold, and rainy days).

Position type, travel, and expected hours of work This full-time field position requires travel to local job locations in and around Traverse City, MI. Typical hours will range from 45-50 hours per week and are subject to change. This role requires working nontypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary.
