The role involves caring for patients undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and/or biological treatments. The unit consists of 28 acute care beds. Travelers are expected to provide skilled nursing care to patients requiring aggressive curative therapy, symptom management, ostomy care, and palliative care. Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 4 patients. Weekend shifts are required on an as-needed basis. Float to other acute care units may be required. Travelers do not administer chemotherapy and are not required to be chemotherapy certified. Candidates will receive a welcome call from the manager prior to starting. The unit sees a variety of surgical and medical oncology patients. Experience with the EPIC charting system is mandatory. References from two supervisors are required for submission.
