Principal Systems Engineer – Cost Account Manager (CAM) – Onsite At Collins Aerospace, you will support programs involved in modernizing the U.S. Air Force Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) capabilities. You will be immersed in innovation while receiving world‑class training to become an SME in the systems engineering lifecycle. Role Requirements Security Clearance: Active U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance Day 1; U.S. citizenship required. Location: Richardson, TX (onsite). What You Will Do Tracking, reporting, and managing program scope, cost, and schedule execution Apply Earned Value Management principles to provide accurate Estimate to Complete (ETC) updates Provide monthly variance analyses for associated Control Accounts Identify and manage Risks and Opportunities for assigned subsystems Collaborate to capture, analyze, decompose, and trace system requirements Leverage JIRA to decompose epics and features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria Plan and execute project‑level work to meet schedules, costs, and performance goals Manage technical risks by evaluating design aspects and requirements Represent the Systems Engineering team in customer and internal meetings Bridge the gap between functional discipline groups and internal/external stakeholders Engage in classified lab environments to apply expertise hands‑on (onsite presence required) Travel occasionally to support program requirements Qualifications – Required Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) plus 8 years relevant experience, or an advanced degree plus 5 years, or 12 years relevant experience if no degree Active and transferable U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance required prior to start date U.S. citizenship is required Leadership and mentoring experience of systems engineering teams Effective communication skills with all levels of management, program team members, and external stakeholders Proven track record in capturing customer requirements, operations concept development, deriving and tracing system and sub‑system requirements Proven track record as a Control Account Manager (CAM) Experience conducting root cause analysis and corrective actions Strong understanding of the Systems Engineering Development Life‑Cycle Preferred Qualifications Experience with MBSE tools like MagicDraw CAMEO, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect Experience with requirements tool such as DOORS Expertise in building complex SysML models, including developing activity, state, block diagrams, use cases, etc. Proficiency in Excel Macros and Visual Basic Agile experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or other Agile leadership roles Knowledge of Project Management, Control Account Management (CAM), and earned value Familiarity with bidding and project/task estimation tools (e.g., SEER products) Competence in peer review processes, configuration, and change management Understanding of military concepts of operations or radio performance standards Benefits and Compensation Medical, dental, and vision insurance Three weeks of vacation for newly hired employees Generous 401(k) plan with employer matching funds and separate employer retirement contribution Tuition reimbursement program Student Loan Repayment Program Life insurance and disability coverage Optional coverages (pet, home and auto, additional life and accident, critical illness, group legal, ID theft protection) Birth, adoption, parental leave benefits Ovia Health, fertility, and family planning Adoption Assistance Autism Benefit Employee Assistance Plan, including up to 10 free counseling sessions Healthy You Incentives, wellness rewards program Doctor on Demand, virtual doctor visits Bright Horizons, child and elder care services Teladoc Medical Experts, second opinion program Relocation assistance And more Salary range: $107,500 – $204,500 (USD).
