Reliability Engineer II

Abbott seeks a Reliability Engineer II for its Diabetes Care division in Alameda, California. This individual contributor role focuses on failure analysis, reliability investigations, and quality improvements for glucose monitoring devices, requiring deep expertise in electrical engineering, embedded systems, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed failure analysis investigations on returned glucose readers and sensors, including hardware and software components
• Lead medium-sized projects using project management methodologies to ensure on-time delivery
• Collaborate across teams to identify and resolve recurring reliability issues in hardware and software
• Perform quality analysis and document reliability findings for management review
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to lab engineers on hardware/software integration best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, software engineering, statistics, or mathematics
• Five years of product engineering experience, preferably in medical device industry
• Demonstrated expertise in product failure analysis and hardware/software integration
• Knowledge of embedded systems and electrical design principles
• Experience supporting CAPA activities and nonconforming product investigations
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and complex technical investigations

Compensation: $81,500–$141,300 base
