Key Responsibilities Metallurgical Analysis & Process Support Perform metallurgical evaluations, including microstructural analysis, mechanical testing, heat‑treatment verification, and failure analysis. Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot metal‑processing routes such as casting, forging, heat treating, welding, rolling, or machining. Monitor material quality throughout the manufacturing process and ensure compliance with specifications. Production Floor Support Provide hands‑on technical guidance to operators and supervisors to resolve metallurgical or process deviations. Conduct root‑cause investigations for defects, non‑conformances, and equipment‑related metallurgical issues. Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Quality & Compliance Ensure metallurgical processes align with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) and customer requirements. Prepare and maintain metallurgical documentation, test reports, and production records. Review and approve material certifications and metallurgical test results. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve product performance, yield, and throughput. Lead metallurgical trials, process experiments, and cost‑reduction initiatives. Support new product development and qualification activities. Required Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. Minimum 5 years of hands‑on metallurgical experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (steel, foundry, forging, machining, fabrication, or similar). Strong understanding of metal properties, heat‑treatment processes, failure mechanisms, and material specifications. Experience with metallurgical lab equipment (hardness tester, microscope, tensile tester, spectrometer, etc.). Ability to work on the shop floor, troubleshoot issues in real time, and communicate effectively with production teams. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills. Familiarity with quality systems and industrial safety practices. Additional Qualifications Experience with alloy steels, stainless steels, non‑ferrous alloys, or high‑temperature materials. Knowledge of welding metallurgy or casting metallurgy. Exposure to advanced characterization (SEM/EDS) or statistical process control (SPC). ELLWOOD Group Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
