• Location: Chantilly, VA (Washington, DC Metro Area) | On-Site
• Salary: $160,000–$190,000+ | Bonus Eligible
• PTO: 23+ days annually

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced, licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead its Survey & Mapping Department at its Chantilly, VA headquarters. This senior leadership role oversees department operations, team development, project delivery, client relationships, and business growth while driving technical excellence, quality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Department Leadership: Direct surveying and mapping operations, develop strategic initiatives, oversee budgets, and forecast staffing, workloads, and revenue.
• Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop surveying professionals, project managers, and field and office staff. Support recruiting, training, and performance management.
• Project Oversight: Oversee project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and deliverables to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Client Relations & Business Development: Build client relationships, prepare proposals and cost estimates, support RFQs/RFPs, and identify new business opportunities.
• Technical Excellence: Maintain surveying standards, oversee QA/QC processes, and implement new technologies and operational improvements.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable surveying standards, regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
• Extensive land surveying experience, including surveying operations and project management.
• Proven leadership experience managing surveying teams, departments, or business units.
• Strong knowledge of boundary, construction, and topographic surveying, as well as geospatial technologies.
• Experience with budgeting, financial performance, workload planning, and revenue forecasting.
• Familiarity with current surveying technologies, software, and data collection methods.

Compensation Note: Final salary will depend on qualifications and experience and may exceed the listed range. Annual performance-based bonuses are tied to company, department, and individual results. xhyhwjd
