We are seeking a Hybrid Safety Specialist to join our Employee Health & Safety team at our o ffice in Fuquay-Varina, NC and across various job sites in the Raleigh, NC area. Per diem is not available for this job.

InServ is hiring a Safety Specialist to support our growing safety program. This is a hybrid role that will include both office-based safety responsibilities and field safety support across InServ projects.

This position will assist with employee orientations, safety training, safety documentation, and other safety program needs from the office. The Safety Specialist will also provide field coverage when needed, including visiting smaller jobsites that do not have full-time safety coverage and filling in when field safety personnel are on vacation or unavailable.

The right person for this role must have strong construction safety experience, the ability to teach and coach employees, and a practical understanding of field operations. This position plays an important role in helping promote and support InServ’s Safety for Life culture across all projects.

About the Role

This is a hands-on safety position for someone who can support both the paperwork side and the people side of safety. The Safety Specialist will help with training, orientations, documentation, and field coaching while serving as a visible safety resource for our teams.

Key Responsibilities

Support new hire and project-specific safety orientations.

Assist with safety training classes and employee safety education.

Help maintain and organize safety documentation, training records, and jobsite safety files.

Visit smaller jobsites to provide safety support, coaching, and hazard recognition.

Provide temporary field safety coverage when regular safety personnel are unavailable.

Assist with jobsite observations, safety audits, incident follow-up, and corrective action tracking.

Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices, PPE, JHAs, and site safety expectations.

Support InServ’s safety programs, policies, OSHA requirements, and client safety expectations.

Communicate professionally with employees, supervisors, project managers, and client representatives.

Promote InServ’s Safety for Life culture through positive field engagement and practical safety leadership.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience .

Current OSHA 500 certification required.

Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and general jobsite safety practices.

Ability to teach, coach, and communicate clearly with field employees.

Comfortable working in both an office and field environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.

Willingness to travel to local jobsites as needed.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Instructional Trainer, CIT, preferred.

OSHA 510, CHST, STSC, ASP, or other safety-related certifications are a plus.

First Aid, CPR, and AED instructor credentials are a plus.

Experience conducting safety orientations, toolbox talks, audits, and field coaching.

Experience supporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, industrial, or life sciences construction projects preferred.
