Registered Nurse In High Acuity Icu

This position is for a nurse in a high acuity intensive care unit. The unit has a total of 8 beds and operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, post-surgical care, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-stroke treatment, post-trauma care, and cardiac patients. Nurses are responsible for titrating drips including Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, and Dopamine. A house supervisor is available 24/7. Respiratory therapy is also available in-house 24/7. Nurses provide primary care in the ICU, with no aides or patient care technicians assigned to the unit. Nurses are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment and monitor telemetry readings. The position entails weekend and holiday shift rotations. ICU nurses may float to medical-surgical units as needed. Scrubs are the required dress code. Orientation includes classroom instruction and on-the-unit training with a preceptor. The charting system used is EPIC.
