Temporary Independent Living Advisor (ILA) Location: Service Oneonta, NY, US (Regular/Hourly/Non-Exempt) Salary Range: $22.84 – $22.84 Annually Position Functions Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly dorm by managing student behavior. A good candidate has experience as a Residential Advisor (RA) or Direct Support Professional (DSP), good customer service skills, and has worked with youth aged 16-24. Multiple Shift Options & Department Shift Schedules Prime Shift – Monday through Friday 3:00pm-12:00am Split Shift – Monday and Tuesday Overnight 11:30pm-8:30am and Saturday and Sunday 11:30am-12:00am Overnight Shift – Wednesday through Sunday 11:30pm-8:30am On-Call Hours are filled where we need help on any shift. Duties & Responsibilities Ensure accurate accountability of students present for duty at the center Provide counseling and guidance to students in assigned dorms on attitude, behavior, and interpersonal relationships Monitor student activity in the dorm and enforce appropriate behavior Direct students and assist during maintenance and cleanup of dorm areas Provide training in independent living and leadership skills Reinforce positive behaviors and hold students accountable for negative behaviors Maintain shift logs, enter data into the center information system and student folders, and report any unusual or critical incidents to supervisors Support dorm supervisor, counselors, and other team members in providing effective case management services to students on their caseloads Act as a member of a team with other advisors by completing assigned shift duties and communicating shift-specific information appropriately Act as an advisor to student peer counsel Skills & Competencies Ability to relate to and work with disadvantaged youth Proven customer service skills Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to meet frequent deadlines and handle stressful, hectic situations without loss of efficiency and composure Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Education Requirements High School Diploma or GED Residential experience in a group home or college dormitory setting preferred Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Benefits Medical coverage with reduced rates for employees Dental and vision coverage Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Long‑term and short‑term disability insurance Accident insurance Critical illness insuranceHospital indemnity insurance 401(k) retirement plan Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Flex Spending Account (FSA) Paid vacation and sick time 12 paid holidays Free access to weight and cardio rooms and low‑cost meals ($3.00 per meal) daily ADA Requirements Following the Americans with Disabilities Act, requirements may be modified to accommodate disabled individuals reasonably.
