Clinical Laboratory Assistant

Laboratory Assistant IIOrlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II for a clinical patient-facing role involving patient support, registration, and specimen collection and processing. This position is located in St. Petersburg, FL (on-site) and operates during the 2nd / Mid-Shift.The responsibilities include specimen receiving and processing duties, patient registration, entering orders in the computer system, centrifuging specimens, labeling and aliquoting samples, delivering to test sites, and storing samples, slides, blocks, etc.Key duties also involve providing support in patient registration, maintaining department supplies, demonstrating knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements, performing all departmental functions, maintaining positive customer service relationships, processing pathology specimens, training staff, working flexible hours, maintaining interpersonal skills, assisting in maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment, following established policies and procedures, and maintaining attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies.Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalency, two years of laboratory or patient care experience, and phlebotomy experience is highly preferred.Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is a comprehensive tertiary care facility serving St. Petersburg and the surrounding communities for over 100 years.
